A few weeks ago, my great aunt died and so my relatives from Mexico came to the US to have a service and bury her here. After all that, the relatives treated with outings to many expensive places, and yet, we were the hosts. This place was one of them.
On a Tuesday, we went to a Brazilian steakhouse and right when we went inside the lobby, I was struck by this. At first, I thought that it was a painting... Then I hoped it was fake. Then I realized that this is made up of real butterflies.
It does look beautiful, with the iridescence and all... But then I got uncomfortable. Honest, I did squeal in fright at it. If you guys don't know, my name, Vanessa, means butterfly... At least, it's a genus of butterfly. But nonetheless, I'm VERY close to butterflies and I adore them with all my heart. Sometimes, I believe that I am their kind, since they remind me so much of myself. So seeing this, filled with dead wings of such delicate and beautiful creatures... It freaked me out... And there were more of these frames, but smaller. Still, those traumatized me.
Don't worry, I'm alright.
I just feel sad that these innocent creatures were used in such a... Gross way. But it is artistic...
