The last few hours were the worst of Vanessa's life. She had to go through Randall's cold remarks and loathing commands; hauling this there, punching this, confirming that, organizing this, programming that. It was a beautiful morning in Monstropolis; the birds were singing, the flowers turned with open petals facing the sun. Everything seemed all in place and at peace.
